A fur-tastic place to be a pet parent

December 11, 2024

One of the pleasures of flexible work at Fannie Mae is that employees get to know each other’s furry family members as they roam in the background (or foreground) of screens during meetings and collabs when people are working from home. Pets are family, and our employee benefits, programs, and resources were designed for our entire families —including furry and four-legged as well as winged, or gilled family members.

$500 for furry friend expenses

Through Fannie Mae’s benefits, eligible employees can be reimbursed up to $500 annually for a whole variety of lifestyle services and purchases, including those that can support your fluffy loved ones — from pet walking to pet insurance premiums to pet adoption fees.

A go-to resource for pet researching needs

When looking for a cat sitter, or a dog walker, or maybe a specialist for a parrot, eligible employees can reach out to our hospitality services team. They’re always ready to help when it comes to finding needed information — like resources of possible providers, specialists, and other organizations to help pets get the care they need. Employees have free, unlimited use of this benefit to help find credited providers.

Discounts! Discounts! Discounts!

Thanks to employee-only offers, it’s easy to spoil the pets in our families without breaking the bank. With Plum Benefits, employees can get great deals, including discounts on pet insurance and other savings for pet-related purchases.

Pet parenting tips

At Fannie Mae, our Resources for Living program offers free animal resources, such as tips on selecting the right pet for your family, helping pets through a disaster, traveling with your pet, and pet parenting 101. We also have a place where we can post photos of our furry family members and offer any pet parenting wisdom or referrals we’d like to pass on to our colleagues.

Help pets outside of your family — use volunteer leave to work at pet organizations and get up to $5,000 matched donations to help animals in need

Employees making a voluntary donation to a local animal shelter may qualify for a Fannie Mae match. Donations of at least $25 up to $5,000 are eligible for matching if donated to a qualified nonprofit organization. This is an ideal way to double the help for animals in need.

Eligible employees can use up to 10 hours of paid leave each month for an annual limit of 120 hours to volunteer at different organizations, including animal shelters.
