Fannie Mae Social Media Guidelines

Fannie Mae leverages social media to share corporate and industry news, promote resources, and showcase our company culture. Our social media networks are a great place for our customers and partners to engage with Fannie Mae’s content and connect with individuals who share common interests. We encourage open dialogue and appreciate the unique insights our audiences provide. When interacting on social media, please:

  • Be respectful: Refrain from using harmful language and treat others with decency and respect
  • Be mindful: Understand the risks and double-check your privacy and security settings before joining online conversations
  • Be truthful: Avoid sharing false or fraudulent information

Your use of social media platforms is subject to their respective terms and conditions and other acceptable use policies but we wanted to delineate our expectations for participation in our online communities:

Our social community is not a substitute channel for customer service questions. Please visit our Contact Us page for specific product or service assistance.

Our social media feeds are moderated by Fannie Mae employees. Your comments and posts will be reviewed to ensure that they comply with these Guidelines. We reserve the right to remove comments or posts that may be perceived as abusive, inflammatory, derogatory, profane, or otherwise inappropriate.

Fannie Mae reserves the right to block or ban any user from our social feeds without prior written notice or consent for violation of these Guidelines. Any comment(s) posted which we deem to be criminal in nature or imply violence toward oneself or another will be reported as needed.

Fannie Mae’s social media community is open to the public. Posts or comments published online may be accessible to anyone with a social media account or through search engine queries. To protect your privacy and the privacy of others, do not include social security numbers, case numbers, loan numbers, home addresses, email addresses, phone numbers or any other sensitive, personally identifiable information (PII) in your posts, messages or comments on social media.

To report any ethics violations, reach out to the Fannie Mae Ethics Webline or call 800-2FANNIE (800-232-6643).

Your posts and comments must not violate any copyright or other intellectual property rights of Fannie Mae or any third party. You may not remove, alter, or modify any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary content or notices or infringe on any party's copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret, intellectual property, or other proprietary rights, or right of publicity or privacy.

Fannie Mae will not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, in any way for any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of, or in connection with, your use of social media.

Fannie Mae cannot guarantee, and is not responsible or liable for, the accuracy or completeness of any posts or contents reshared or reposted by users on social media. Fannie Mae disclaims all representations and warranties, express or implied, as to third-party user content related to it on social media.

No content, reshares or comments made by Fannie Mae, its employees, or any user should be understood or used as advice, endorsements, or recommendations. Our social media feed(s)/page(s) are not an offer to sell or a solicitation of any offer to buy Fannie Mae products or any other issuer or company.

If you are a Fannie Mae employee, please reference the Fannie Mae Social Media and Communication Tools and all other applicable policies.

These terms of use are subject to revision by Fannie Mae and may be modified at any time.
