Tatyana (Tanya) Zahalak is an economist on the Multifamily Market Research Team in Fannie Mae’s Economic and Strategic Research Group. Her work focuses on rental markets in the U.S. and analyzing local economies and multifamily real estate markets. In addition, she has led research covering affordable market-rate rental housing, federally assisted housing including Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties, manufactured housing communities, and small multifamily properties owned by institutions. Tanya joined Fannie Mae in 1996.
Prior to her current role, Tanya held positions in several Fannie Mae business units including Multifamily Portfolio Strategy, Single-Family Affordable Lending, and Single-Family Analytics. Her prior responsibilities included producing research to support multifamily strategic objectives, enhancing products for single-family and multifamily affordable mortgages, and analyzing risk and pricing guaranty fees on nonstandard pools of single-family mortgages.
Tanya has a B.S. in both applied math and English literature from Washington University in St. Louis and an M.S. in finance from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.
