Homeownership Rate Continues to Drop, But Housing Affordability Improves Substantially

By most measures, 2012 was a year of recovery in the housing market. However, according to our most recent edition of Housing Insights, which analyzes recently published data from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (ACS), the homeownership rate declined for the fifth consecutive year in 2012 despite across-the-board improvement in housing affordability.
